We're currently looking to welcome a Band 5 Registered Practitioner to our Frimley Health Family for the Surgical and Emergency Team . If you are an experienced registered Nurse or ODP, student due to qualify and are looking to develop your career then we would love to hear from you!

The Surgical and Emergency Team offers a variety of surgical specialties including Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Upper GI, Colorectal, General Surgery, Emergencies, Robotics and Vascular.

Newly qualified practitioners are provided with a 12 month bespoke preceptorship programme with 14 days protected study designed to teach and develop our practitioners to the highest standard.

The post also offers opportunities for growth and development such as exposure and trainings with other departments including Emergency Department, Intensive Care and Post Anaesthetic Care with a possibility to take on dual roles in these areas.

Staffing theatre 24 hours, 7 days a week with our shifting varies from a Long Day (07.30-19.30) and Night (19.00-07.30) including weekends and bank holidays. Our team of committed Registered Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners, Assistant Theatre Practitioners, Health Care Assistants and Trainee Nursing Associates to work together, value each other's strengths, skill set and clinical expertise in accordance with our Trust Values.

Main duties of the job
  • To participate as a skilled member of the theatre team.
  • To scrub for and support surgeons in performing procedures.
  • To support the Theatre in the establishing good working atmosphere and participate in effective/efficient use of staff, supplies and services.
  • To provide a high level of support to the perioperative team in the delivery of patient care, within the theatre area.
  • To assist in effective communication channels between team members, medical staff, wards, and departments.
  • Prepare theatres by maintaining proper stock levels of consumables and checking that all equipment and instruments are in good, working order.
  • To ensure all equipment is regularly checked and maintained in a safe
manner.
  • Participate in training programmes for junior staff and other disciplines seconded to the department
  • To participate in achieving the stated Clinical Governance, Quality Assurance and Risk Management objectives set by the organisation.
  • Support staff deployment to other areas of the Trust or to one of our sister hospitals when situation arise.
