We are currently recruiting for 3 Pharmacy Technicians at the Bristol Royal Infirmary on either a Band 4 or Band 5 contract depending on accreditation/qualification.

Main duties of the job
  • As a member of the Pharmacy Technician team you will provide safe and efficient pharmacy support to the dispensary and wards within UHBW. You will develop your existing professional, technical and clinical skills through your own continuing professional development to provide and service of excellence to both patients and staff alike. This role includes dispensing and checking of medicines within the dispensary and completion of medicines reconciliation.
  • Dispensing of medicines and preparation of pharmaceutical products, helping to meet discharge times & taking queries from ward staff.
  • Providing pharmaceutical support to the dispensary and the wards within the trust
  • Be involved in the running and organization of the workflow and participate in the training/mentorship of new staff and help to embrace change within the department.
  • Progression through nationally recognized accreditations in Accuracy Checking and Medicines Optimization

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Accredited Medicines Management Technician (Essential within 12 months of appointment. Required for progression to band 5)
  • Accredited for Assessing or Coaching
  • Accredited Checking Technician (Essential within 12 months of appointment. Required for progression to band 5)

Knowledge and experiece

  • Previous experience of working within a clinical patient-facing environment
  • Previous participation in audit or quality improvement work
  • Proven recent hospital experience of delivering dispensing service as a technician
