The main purpose of the role is clinical decision making and providing support and advice to known service users open to the team when their care co-ordinator, or other member of staff directly involved in their care, is not available and to other professionals when they are seeking help.
The duty worker will also carry out urgent assessments and interventions but will not normally carry a caseload of clients and work to support the team where Intensive Home-Based Treatment is required for someone whose mental health is deteriorating so as to promote their independence and recovery in the community to avoid the need for a hospital admission.
They are supported at periods throughout the week by our support workers who act under the direct guidance and supervision of the duty worker and fulfil a number of appropriate roles/tasks. You will have a strong sense of initiative, excellent team working ability, be an excellent communicator and be able to demonstrate knowledge of high-level interventions and assessment skills particularly around risk assessment and management.
The Team is guided by collective decision making, providing evidence-based psychological and medical interventions to patients with often complex mental health difficulties. The patients journey is guided by the biopsychosocial formulation of their presenting difficulties, which subsequently inform the development of a collaborative plan of care for the patient.
We draw from evidence-based interventions to provide high quality and effective interventions. The Duty Worker will be able to use these plans of care and associated risk management documents to guide their interactions and interventions. The applicant will need to have up to date knowledge on mental health service delivery frameworks.

Your role will involve working closely with other partners, agencies, carers, service users, families and the local community, ensuring continuity of service is provided at a high level.
