We require a Medical Secretary to join our busy team, providing a comprehensive administrative and secretarial support within the Acute Service.

This is a busy but rewarding post in a fast based speciality with a high volume of patients. You will be responsible for booking theatre lists, audio typing, diary management, answering patient queries alongside other administrative and secretarial tasks.

You should have proven secretarial and administrative experience and possess excellent communication, organisational and problem solving skills.
You should be a competent audio typist with a robust working knowledge of Microsoft packages. A working knowledge and understanding of NHS Waiting Times would be desirable.
You will require to be a flexible individual and have the ability to work on your own and as part of a team.

Please note the salary for this post is pro rata to part time hours.

Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager. The secondment policy can be found here Hub • Blink (joinblink.com) If you do not have approval for a secondment from your current line manager, you will not be able to progress your application for a fixed term post.

External applicants, with continuous NHS Service, must also have in place a secondment agreement, from their existing board to apply for this post.

Fir informal enquiries, please contact Mandy Struthers, Secretarial Team Leader on 01592 643355 ext 21575 or Gillian Johnston, Secretarial Team Leader on ext 25645.
NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.
However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.
