Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant - Home-Based - Part Time Role

We are looking for a motivated and driven person to take on the role of Bookkeeper/Accounts Assistant. The successful candidate will possess at least three years of bookkeeping/accounting experience and will have previously worked in an accountancy practice environment, and will have experience using cloud based systems, mainly Xero Cloud Accounting, and in-app solutions.

This role is home-based with the requirement to travel into Glasgow City Centre occasionally for meetings. You will be required to visit clients on an adhoc basis.
Roles and responsibilities:

The candidate will be working for a small practice, and will possess the required skillset to hit the ground running. The role involves:

  • Bookkeeping using Xero cloud accounting and other online software packages
  • Taking client books to trial balance stage; balance sheet reconciliations
  • VAT return preparation and submission
  • Payroll and CIS processing and dealing with holidays, stat leave, absences
  • Auto-enrolment pensions set up and filing
  • Cloud set up and training
  • HMRC registrations and filings

Requirements:

  • Must possess a minimum of 2 years of accounts/bookkeeping experience using cloud software.
  • Must have previously worked in an accountancy practice setting.
  • HND or above in accountancy or ICB certification.
  • Must fully understand the balance sheet and can perform balance sheet reconciliations to take accounts up to trial balance stage.
  • Driven and focused individual that can work to tight deadlines on multiple clients and be able to prioritise the workload.
  • Can work on their own remotely and hit the ground running.
  • Must have a clean and full UK drivers license as you will be expected to drive to clients premises.

Preferable:

  • Ideally working towards being a fully qualified accountant with a recognised professional body (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA or AAT).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel.
