Originating in Vancouver, Canada in 1993, Shark Club UK debuted in the Newcastle in 2011 on the very same land as the historic Newcastle brewery and sitting across from St James Park.

Shark Club London Gatwick shortly joined our restaurant group in 2013.

What We Are Hiring

As an Assistant General Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the General Manager with operational functionality and profitability of the restaurant. You will be accountable for planning, organizing, and coordinating all resources and activities in the restaurant, including achieving goals, controlling costs and executing spectacular guest connection.

You will also assist in recruiting, training, and coaching the restaurant team. You will report to the General Manager and you will support by supervising hourly employees within the location.

What You’ll Do
  • You will prepare and interpret financial and operational reports, analyze data, and develop solutions to ensure operating goals are achieved
  • You will help achieve controllable profit goals by monitoring controls and taking corrective action when needed
  • You will be required to attend weekly meetings with the Management team
  • You will support to achieve profit and loss targets
  • You will help coordinate the entire operation of the bar, restaurant and conference/event facilities during scheduled shifts
  • You will develop and coach hourly employees on brand standards, internal policies and procedures, and other guest focused programs/activities to meet or exceed guest service standards
  • Ensure stock par levels and orders are placed in line with business needs.
  • You will develop Restaurant Supervisors and hourly employees through corporate training programs, individual development plans, and assignments
  • You will perform other duties as required or assigned
Who You Are
  • You have minimum 2 years of experience within the restaurant or hospitality industry; leadership/operations experience strongly preferred
  • You have a understanding of people and staffing practices
  • You are an effective communicator in English, both orally and in writing
  • You are a team player, collaborative and attentive
  • You have excellent guest service and people skills
  • You are self-motivated, organized, and able to multitask effectively
  • You must be able to legally work in UK (as a citizen, resident or holding other current and valid work permit)
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
