Job overview

The Senior Pharmacy Technician – Clinical Informatics will form part of the Pharmacy Informatics Team, supporting the Lead Pharmacy Technician with the day-to-day management of pharmacy IM&T systems and hardware, at an exciting time for the Trust and its implementation of a new digital strategy including a full Electronic Patient Record, and the introduction of Electronic Prescribing & Medicines Administration (EPMA).

Main duties of the job
  • Reporting and data analysis. Postholder will be expected to assist in the development of reports using data from Pharmacy IT systems to feed into operational review meetings.
  • Assisting in IT projects or supporting other projects with pharmacy IT dependencies.
  • Deputising for the Lead Pharmacy Technician –Clinical Informatics in the management of the Pharmacy Stock Control System and other pharmacy IT systems.
  • Management of the Prescription Tracking System, to include onboarding and training of new users, liaising with the supplier to report and correct system faults, configuration of system to meet ongoing changes to requirements, management of periodic patches and upgrades.
  • Supporting Electronic Prescribing & Medicines Administration team with the implementation, roll-out and BAU support of EPMA system.
  • Duties as a registered Pharmacy Technician to include supporting the dispensary as part of late shift and weekend rota, to include accuracy checking under ACT scheme.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be the main point of contact within the department for data analysis and reporting, as a subject matter expert in pharmacy with a detailed understanding of pharmacy applications and systems.

They will also assist in coaching users in the analysis and interpretation of the information and how to use it to guide their decision making, advising on issues of data standards and quality as necessary.

The post holder will also be involved in assisting in IT projects or ad hoc queries that address key analytical and information needs of the department, as well as developing bespoke solutions to meet operational requirements.

Deputising for the Lead Pharmacy Technician –Clinical Informatics in the management of the Pharmacy Stock Control System and other pharmacy IT systems.

Management of the Prescription Tracking System, to include addition and training of new users, liaising with the supplier to report and correct system faults, configuration of system to meet ongoing changes to requirements.

Duties as a registered Pharmacy Technician to include acting as Lead Technician when required in the dispensary at evenings and weekends.
