Financial Controller

The position is a hybrid role, requiring three days a week in the Burton-on-Trent office, providing the flexibility to work remotely for the remainder of the week.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Financial Reporting: Oversee and manage technical accounting matters, especially related to software capitalisation, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and relevant reporting standards.
- Financial Controls: Develop and maintain strong financial controls to support corporate governance, risk management, and compliance objectives within the business.
- Project Involvement: Collaborate on cross-functional projects involving financial data analysis, process improvements, and strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing financial performance.
- Audit Liaison: Act as the primary liaison for external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and facilitating a smooth audit process.
- Executive Exposure: Provide technical accounting insight to the CFO and executive team, helping to drive decision-making and financial strategy.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with departments across the business, including finance, technology, and operations, to ensure alignment on financial objectives and reporting.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The role is an exciting opportunity for a qualified finance professional who has a strong technical foundation and is ready to transition from practice to industry. To be successful, you will bring the following experience and skills:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with strong technical accounting skills.
- Auditing Experience with US-listed Companies: Candidates from a Top 10 accounting firm who have audited large, complex US-listed businesses are ideally suited to this role.
- Software Capitalisation: Familiarity with software capitalisation processes is highly desirable.
- Analytical Skills: Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on projects and manage deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence to engage with senior stakeholders and present complex information clearly.
- Proactive and Collaborative: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Exposure to Senior Leadership: Gain valuable experience working directly with the CFO and wider executive team on high-impact projects.
