Contract type: Permanent (25 hours per week, term time only plus teacher training days)

We are seeking a dedicated, highly organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our friendly and supportive science faculty. This part-time role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our students’ learning experiences by supporting the effective delivery of practical science lessons and activities, whilst ensuring a safe working environment.

The Role

As a Science Technician, you will:

  • Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science lessons, experiments and demonstrations across all science subjects (Biology, Chemistry and Physics).
  • Ensure all equipment is in good working order, clean, and safe for use, performing routine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Assist teachers and students during practical science lessons.
  • Support the implementation and adherence to health and safety regulations and procedures within the laboratories.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised laboratory and prep room environment.
  • Manage and maintain an inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with the organisation of open evening activities; and support extra-curricular activities, such as trips and visits.
  • Assist teaching staff in promoting and raising the profile of the science faculty.

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • A strong interest in science.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices in a laboratory setting, including knowledge of health and safety regulations (or a willingness to learn).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
