The Role

Our client are seeking a dedicated Internal Quality Assessor (IQA) – Engineering to join their team on a part-time basis. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality and consistency of assessments within our engineering programmes. Working closely with assessors, tutors, and external awarding bodies, you will help maintain high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment across the college’s engineering apprenticeship and vocational qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain assessment and internal verification processes within the engineering department.
  • Support and mentor engineering assessors, ensuring consistency and best practice in assessment methods.
  • Conduct standardisation meetings to uphold high-quality assessment standards.
  • Ensure compliance with awarding body requirements and internal quality assurance policies.
  • Assist in the preparation for external audits and inspections, ensuring all records meet regulatory standards.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to improve teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
  • Work closely with employers and apprentices to ensure effective workplace assessment and training.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, aligning training with industry standards and best practices.
Requirements
  • Relevant engineering industry experience (e.g., mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, or related fields).
  • A recognised assessor and/or internal quality assurance qualification (e.g., TAQA, A1, V1, IQA).
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance processes in education and apprenticeships.
  • Knowledge of current engineering qualifications and apprenticeship frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with assessors, tutors, and employers.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach to ensuring high standards of assessment and verification.
