An exciting opportunity has arisen within the research and development directorate . We are looking for a highly motivated clinical research midwife / nurse / practitioner, who will be responsible for the coordination and management of an agreed research portfolio within the clinical genetics service at St George’s Hospital.

The post holder will work collaboratively with the research team and wider multidisciplinary team in the management of their own caseload of research patients and be accountable for the achievement of local and national targets in relation to the service.

Main duties of the job

St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join the clinical research delivery team to conduct high-quality research involving patients in the Clinical Genetics service.

The post holder will deliver a range of clinical genetics research studies under the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) portfolio. The post offers an exciting opportunity to work across different genetics specialities, such as oncogenetics, neurology, rare disease and other general disorders.

This role involves liaison with Principal Investigators and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality data collection and clinical care, with a commitment to participant safety and welfare. The post holder will be expected to advocate for patients and empower them to make informed choices concerning their involvement in clinical research studies by providing advice and information.

The role is primarily based at St George's Hospital, however some cross-site working may be required.

This role would offer ideal experience to individuals who are interested in pursuing genomic counselling or developing a career in the development and delivery of clinical research in the NHS. Previous experience of working in clinical research is desirable.
