To support and contribute to the effective provision of a high-quality Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service as part of the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Service (OHWB). The post post-holder will have day to day responsibility for Occupational Health Clinics and a designated caseload and will be expected to provide employees with a comprehensive and confidential OH Service.

OHWB provides services to the staff of the Trust and to external organisations.

The post holder will work under supervision to achieve competency as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse ( SCPHN) , with commitment to commencing academic training to BSc standard within 1-2 years.

The post holder will support the junior members of the team to achieve the agreed objectives for the service.

Main duties of the job
  • Support the protection and promotion of the health and wellbeing of current and prospective employees, and those from contracted and other organisations as per Trust arrangements.
  • In accordance with Trust / Department policy and procedures, to deliver OH clinical activity such as, Pre-placement health clearance activity, and risk management & exposure related advice and intervention. The post -holder may be asked to support the service with management referral consultation and reporting.
  • As an Occupational Health Adviser, provide evidence-based opinion, intervention and guidance to Trust management and partner organisations to support their line and risk management responsibilities, assist in safeguarding against risks arising from work and the working environment and to influence the application of safe and healthy work practices.
  • Take responsibility for specific areas of occupational health service delivery and actively promote the work of the OH service by acting as a key link for managers and HR to named clinical programme groups or external clients.
  • Support the OH Nurses, Clinic Nurses, and Administrative Staff, and others as appropriate.
  • Within levels of competence, deputise for the Senior Occupational Health Adviser in their absence

Essential criteria
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health Nursing
  • Registered General Nurse
Desirable criteria
  • ENB 998 Teaching and assessing clinical practice (or similar).

Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria

Should this vacancy be recruited as an apprenticeship, the following criteria will apply:

The amount would vary depending on the level required: Standard Disclosure £21.50+£6.50 or Enhanced Disclosure £49.50+£6.50 (please be aware the additional sum is an administration fee and may increase due to inflation).

This will be deducted from your salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.
