An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 Lead Nurse to join our dedicated nursing team in the Nuclear Medicine Department at the Dudley NHS Trust.

The post holder will be a senior clinical lead nurse with management/ leadership and decision making, responsibility for clinical matters / issues / concerns associated with the radiology nursing team.

The candidate will be required to demonstrate evidence of the ability to fully integrate within the multi-professional team.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of this post will be to work within the Nuclear Medicine department and to deliver seamless care for patients accessing the radiology service.

Being a named point of contact for patients support and advice.

Provide knowledge and advice regarding patients care pathway and patients onwards referral.

Develop key relationship with stakeholders to ensure quality of care to patients is maximised.

Be a nurse prescriber or prepared to work towards as this will be an essential part of the role to respond and prescribe, cannulate and administer relevant medication that may be required as part of the patient care-pathway.

The Lead nurse will be an integral part of the Nuclear Medicine leadership and decision making of department, service and the radiology multi-disciplinary team.

The Lead nurse will be involved in the clinical quality audits and ensure actions and learning are shared with the wider team.

The post holder will work closely with the imaging matron, imaging management team and Clinical Service Leads in Nuclear Medicine .

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Adult Nurse on NMC register
  • Diploma/Degree level
  • Immediate Life Support (ILS)
Desirable criteria
  • Years experience in team leadership/ decision making
  • Completion of relevant post registration specialist course or experience e.g. non- medical prescriber
  • Health Assessment to level 6 or level 7

Knoweldge and Training

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates an ability, experience, passion in leadership, team building, managing resources , clinical governance audits and research
  • Evidence of an in-depth knowledge of providing care for patients with a range of presenting conditions specific to the specialty
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of the role

Clinical skills

Essential criteria
  • Professional Portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development
  • Evidence of an in-depth knowledge of providing care for patients with a range of presenting conditions specific to the specialty. Substantial relevant and recent clinical experience with a complex healthcare setting working as a deputy manager band 6 position, including the supervision and education of junior staff
