Ward 37 is a busy and dynamic General Surgical ward providing high-quality care to patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures.

We pride ourselves on delivering compassionate, patient-centred care within a supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary team and we are looking for a motivated and caring Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join our team.

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality care to our patients. Working under the supervision of Registered Nurses, you will provide enhanced clinical support and contribute to the smooth running of the ward.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide direct patient care, ensuring dignity and respect at all times Support with activities of daily living (e.g. personal care, mobility, nutrition)
  • Undertake clinical observations (e.g. vital signs, blood glucose monitoring) and report any concerns
  • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes
  • Support infection prevention and control measures
  • Maintain accurate patient records

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE in Maths and English grades 9-1 (A- G) or Functional Skills Level 1 or higher
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 2/3 in Health-related subject

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and experience of a range of HCA procedures and practices (inc. venepuncture, taking clinical observations, CPR etc) gained through: Proven work experience, or completion of the Healthcare Support Worker Academy’s 2-week programme within 3 months of start date
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of what is required within the role of a Healthcare Assistant in the care setting
  • Can describe the Trust Values and demonstrate how they put these into practice within their caring role
