Twenty 4 Seven Education are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a Secondary School in Ashford.

The role is due to start in January 2023.

You will be working with SEN students in and out of the classroom and within a specially created SEN centre.

Purpose of the Job:

To work with teachers to support teaching and learning, providing general and specific assistance to pupils and staff under the direction, guidance and direct supervision of the classroom teacher.

Main duties and responsibilities (Accountabilities):

  • Work with individuals or small groups of students in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff and provide feedback to the teacher.
  • Support students to understand instructions support independent learning and inclusion of all students.
  • Support the teacher in behaviour management and keeping students on task.
  • Support students in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate.
  • Prepare and clear up learning environment and resources, including photocopying, filing and the display and presentation of students work and contribute to maintaining a safe environment.

Teaching Assistants in this role may also undertake some or all of the following:

  • Record basic student data.
  • Assist with break-time supervision.
  • Assist with escorting pupils on educational visits.
  • Support pupils in using basic ICT.
  • Invigilate exams and tests.

Other Duties and Responsibilities In addition, all members of the school community are expected to:

  • Display a commitment to child protection and safeguarding. Reporting to the Head of School any behaviour by colleagues, parents and children with raises concern.
  • Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, welfare and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person.

The ideal candidate:

  • ** As a minimum, six months experience in working with children and young adults
  • ** Demonstrate positive behaviour management
  • ** Good communication and organisation skills
  • ** Right to work in the UK
  • ** Enhanced DBS on the Update Service. Candidates without an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service will have to apply for a new one
