The Heart Failure service has expanded in recent years to include four Heart Failure consultants and five WTE Heart Failure nurses, providing Rapid Access outpatient clinics, ambulatory services (intravenous diuretics, iron infusion, drug titration), virtual ward reviews and In reach services for hospitalised patients with heart failure, supported by a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies including complex pacing.

There is no General Medicine component to this post. There is no out-of-hours on-call or weekend cover associated with this post.

Main duties of the job

This post has been created to provide subspecialty training in Adult Heart Failure. The aim is to provide the opportunity for the post-holder to fulfil the training objectives set out by the Joint Committee for Higher Medical Training and by Health Education England.

The fellowship is aligned to the specialty CiPs in the Cardiology 2022 Curriculum and will provide the experience required to apply for a consultant position and to lead a service in Adult Heart Failure.

In order to be considered applicants must meet the following essential criteria;
  • MRCP
  • Completion of Specialty Registrar or equivalent training to ST6 level, having passed the associated competencies

Please note that these posts do not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.
