We are looking for a qualified teacher to support the development of our new school set-up, Jasmine Grove, an independent special educational needs day school for young people with autism aged 8-18. Jasmine Grove School is part of Smoothstone Care and Education and is based in Bolsover.
The successful candidate will help to deliver a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum and help to develop a therapeutic, nurturing environment set up to meet a range of needs associated with a diagnosis of autism including communication and severe learning difficulties.

It is our vision that Jasmine Grove will develop into a place of excellence and become a leading light for our young people and their families.

About the role

Working as a teacher at Jasmine Grove School you will enhance the learning environment for our pupils, leading lessons and promoting personal development and well-being for all. You will help setup the classrooms, develop our curriculum, plan and lead lessons, keep accurate records to track pupil progress and contribute to the wider school.
It is essential you are aware of pupil progress and able to flag potential concerns. Safeguarding the welfare of the young people in our care will be your primary responsibility. Experience of teaching core subjects (Maths/Science) within a SEN setting and/or working with pupils who present as reluctant learners would be an advantage.

This role would also be suitable for someone who has a background in Primary Education.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an individual with high expectations and standards who can offer excellent behavioural management skills. You will be working with young people who have complex needs and your ability to develop trusting relationships with the young people and staff will be crucial.
You will be able to reliably work to instruction as well as take the initiative when circumstances demand. An interest in developing your teaching approaches and a desire to improve these students’ lives is essential combined with an ability to contribute to the overall development of our new school.

We believe that energy, passion and a commitment to high standards are key characteristics required. We are looking for a special individual who is able to help inspire and re-engage the young people that we serve. This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their skills and experience in a challenging, motivating and highly rewarding environment.

This position is due to commence in April 2025 (subject to approved reference/DBS checks).
