Ward 34 is a regional specialist unit, combining both Acute Neurology and Stroke Unit (NASU) providing excellent multidisciplinary care for patients, with a variety of complex neurological conditions and high quality, compassionate, clinical care and support to both patients and their relatives following a stroke diagnosis.

The service also includes a 6 bedded Hyperacute Stroke Unit (HSU), which takes direct admissions and provides critical, first line treatments to patients in the early stages of their stoke, a Video-telemetry Monitoring Service and Sleep Studies.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a motivated individual to join the team, applicants must be able to demonstrate a genuine desire to work in this specialty and be committed to delivering high quality, patient centred care.

Band 3 Qualification Requirements:

Numeracy and Literacy Level 2

Care certificate

Level 3 vocational qualification
or
Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties
and/or
Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; - Theoretical knowledge
  • Experience of a range of care and related procedures
  • clinical observations
  • knowledge of relevant legislation

Person specification

Band 3 Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in health or social care
  • Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalation of changes or findings.

Band 3 Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2

  • Will complete all training whilst in role to undertake basic personal care procedures for patients.
Desirable criteria

Qualifications Band 2

Essential criteria
  • Must complete the care certificate within the 6 months probationary period and ‘on the job training’; instruction will be provided – this is an NHS entry level requirement.
