This is a great opportunity to apply for a Consultant or Specialist post in Geriatric medicine, working as part of the consultant team, with specialist interests in community geriatrics and ICT. This post is in a dynamic, expanding department concerned with community medicine for older people and ICT.It is a new post based at Daventry community hospital which has 35 beds including 6 general palliative care beds
Main duties of the job
In addition to providing services at community hospital with elderly care beds the post holder is also expected to provide 4 sessions to ICT.
The post is in the community hospital is supported by three speciality doctors. There are close working relationships with other community hospitals run by the trust which are located at Corby, Isebrook and Brackley.Post holder is expected to be a part of the wider team which consists of two consultants and 5 middle grade doctors.
The role in the ICT is supported by one middle grade doctor and a wider team including nursing and therapy colleagues, and prescribers. The ICT team also has got 2 other consultants to provide cover for remaining 6 sessions.
In addition, there are opportunities for working with Older Adult Mental Health team.

Person specification
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Full registration and licence to practice with the GMC. MRCP(UK) or equivalent Entry to the GMC specialist register (or expected within 6 months) via CCT. Candidates from CESR must be on the specialist register at the time of application
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion in the field of Geriatric medicine
- Experience of supervising resident doctors
- Member of British Geriatrics Society
- Experience of working with community teams
- Experience working in acute setting in ED/ Frailty Assessment Unit
Experience
Essential criteria- Ability to manage and lead medical team
- Experience of Rehabilitation in a variety of settings
- Understanding of key issues in the interface between secondary and primary/ intermediate care
- Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
