About the vacancy:

Highly motivated candidates are invited to apply for a four-year post-doctoral position to conduct research on a BBSRC-funded project entitled “Bac-chat: Bacterial density-dependent quorum sensing mechanisms in Acute Oak Decline symptom development”.
This is an exciting opportunity to identify the chemical signalling molecules responsible for communication and interaction between AOD bacteria, to determine how they influence lesion development, and if they play a role in the potential shift from an endophytic to pathogenic lifestyle.

The successful candidate will join an expanding research group dedicated to tree health, and also assist in the daily running of the lab and supervision of current and new PhD students.

About you:

Applicants will have a PhD in molecular microbiology or related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in research methods and techniques to fulfil the project objectives. Previous experience of either bacterial transformation and mutagenesis, confocal microscopy, next generation sequencing and data analysis is desirable.

The successful candidate should have an excellent track record commensurate with their career stage, ideally including contributions to published work.
