TfL was created in 2000 as the integrated body responsible for London s transport system TfL is a functional body of the Greater London Authority Its primary role is to implement the Mayor of London s Transport Strategy and manage transport services to from and within London
TfL manages London s buses the Tube network Docklands Light Railway Overground and Trams TfL also runs Santander Cycles London River Services Victoria Coach Station the Emirates Air Line and London Transport Museum As well as controlling a 580km network of main roads and the city s 6 000 traffic lights TfL also regulates London s taxis and private hire vehicles and the Congestion Charge scheme

TfL Engineering provides specialist engineering support advice and technical assurance to all parts of the TfL network This service is specifically related to the Pan-TfL In-Station Retail programme
1 INTRODUCTION
1 1 Background
The TfL Engineering and Asset Strategy directorate was created in 2018 and is a matrixed organisation made up of circa 1 500 people accountable for delivering engineering outcomes the technical side of the 25-year asset plan and standardising our pan-TfL asset strategy approach We combine a whole-life asset view with technical engineering skills to define long-term custodianship of our assets
To fulfil TfL s engineering delivery needs an Engineer will be deployed from the professional service function into a delivery assignment role based on the professional accreditation knowledge skills and experience of the Engineer in addition to their technical authority
Currently there is a shortage of internal engineering resource that is available to be deployed on to assignments to meet the current delivery demand Therefore in order to maintain productivity and ensure delivery of the required engineering outcomes to support the business TfL are utilising our supply chain to deliver packages of work
1 2 Delivery Assignment Background
TfL In-Station Retail is a Pan-TfL programme to generate secondary revenue The programme scope is to create and manage c 800 retail units across the TfL estate which includes- the provision of Engineering technical expertise support for Landlord works to New Existing tenants e g tenant fitout alterations and end of lease refurbishments including Landlord works and Non Compliances
ii) Installation of new units and renewal upgrade to existing retail units that are normally vacant but in some insistences may still be occupied to a technically compliant and marketable standard
iii) provision of Engineering oversight of said works assurance acceptance of any and all upgraded units units delivered by the ISR project other parties within in TfL
iv) To Support the delivery of all the retail development opportunities including but not limited to - ( New Space ) pipeline of new retail spaces across TfL and enabling them with technical support guidance to be taken t forward to fit-out completion and occupation letting - with an aspiration of getting units let by completion
2 SCOPE
2 1 General Requirement Objectives
This service is to discharge the duties of TFL via the Project Engineer assigned to for the projects across all modes including the LUL DLR London Overground Buses or RfL modes reporting to the ISR Engineering Manager and working directly with the respective Project Manager as an integrated part of TfL ISR delivery Engineering The Project Engineer will support the Landlord works New Space tenant fit out project(s) covering DLR London Overground London
