Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Stockport

Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Stockport. This is a full-time position starting ASAP and continuing until the end of the academic year.

There is an opportunity for this role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this position ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Psychology graduate to gain hands-on experience working with young people in an educational setting. The role is particularly suited to those considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, or working with children and young people with additional needs.

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students and staff to support learning, provide pastoral care, and assist in creating an inclusive environment that promotes student development.

Key Responsibilities
  • One-to-One and Small Group Support: Provide tailored support to students who may have special educational needs (SEN), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, or require additional academic assistance.
  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons, ensuring all students are included and able to access the curriculum.
  • Behaviour Support: Help students manage their behaviour and emotional regulation, promoting positive outcomes and a safe learning environment.
  • Pastoral Care: Act as a trusted adult for students, offering support and guidance to improve their well-being and academic engagement.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff to inform planning and interventions.
  • Resource Preparation: Assist with preparing learning materials and resources for classroom use.
What We Are Looking For
  • A Recent Psychology Graduate: A strong interest in child development, education, and supporting young people is essential.
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Adaptability and Resilience: Comfortable working in a busy school environment with the ability to respond to varying needs.
  • Experience Working with Children or Young People (Desirable): This could include experience in youth work, mentoring, volunteering, or working with individuals with additional needs.
