The Trust also provides inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs at our Sunflower House building newly relocated, and opened on the hospital site.

Job overview
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced radiographer to lead the main x-ray team (including Theatres) for the Radiology Department.
We are looking for a knowledgeable, and experienced radiographer with a passion for paediatrics, who will embrace the opportunity to manage their own team and to lead and develop the Main X-ray service and QSI accreditation at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.We have 3 Philips DR rooms, 1 Fluoroscopy suite, DEXA, EOS, 7 Fuji mobile x-ray units, 4 Image Intensifiers, 1 Mini-C arm, 1 Catheter Laboratory (Philips), 1 Interventional Theatre (Philips), an O arm and Hybrid Theatre.
We perform a wide range of examinations including advanced cardiac and neuro imaging, with the main x-ray service provided over 24 hours, 7 days per week. You will play an essential role in Alder Hey achieving QSI accreditation and ensuring high standards of imaging and patient care.
Main duties of the job
To lead and develop the Main x-ray & Theatres service across all areas of the Trust ensuring the service meets Radiology, Trust and National standards, bringing innovative solutions and providing excellent patient care. To work in conjunction with the band 7 Cardiac/Intervention radiographer to provide a seamless and efficient service for all Main x-ray & Theatres.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Responsible for the management and delivery of a comprehensive and effective Main x-ray & Theatres imaging service.
Responsible for the co-ordination of the department’s Quality Agenda and accreditation submissions.
Responsible for administration of Ipassport document control.
To manage within the Main X-ray & Theatres service, the staff, personal development, PDR’s, and act as first line manager for sickness/absence, capability, disciplinary and professional issues.
To provide professional support for staff and to develop plans to improve patient care within current professional and legal standards, local and national policies.
To monitor the effectiveness of departmental protocols and procedures utilising audit/research to initiate and implement new protocols and procedures.
Facilitate the training and development of radiographers, student radiographers, and imaging department assistants in conjunction with the Radiology Clinical Tutors and band 7 Cardiac/Intervention Radiographer.

Education
Essential criteria- BSc Diagnostic Radiography
- Level 7 specialist qualifications or extensive equivalent experience
- Management training/supervisory experience of a group of staff
- Management qualification
- Good Clinical Practice Certificate
Experience
Essential criteria- Significant experience in a main x-ray department in a senior role
- Evidence of further professional development/expanded roles/quality management
- Experience of resource management and able to manage resources effectively
- First line management experience of a group of staff
- Experience of governance, incident reporting and risk management
- Paediatric Experience
- Evidence of research/audit
