Main duties of the job
The operating department at the James Cook University Hospital includes 20 in-patient theatres within the Centre, including obstetrics. Included, is a recovery area within main theatres plus the recovery area within the paediatric day facility.Also at The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton the operating department comprises of 6 main in-patient theatres, (which includes obstetrics) plus the Surgical Day Unit (1 GA &1 minor ops theatre). The theatres provide an operating service to the following clinical specialities: General Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, MRI/Neurosurgery, ENT, Obstetrics and Neuro x-ray.
Following a period of appropriate training, our ODP’s and Registered Nurses provide assistance as a member of the Theatre team as an anaesthetic/recovery practitioner or scrub practitioner. As effective role models, our ODP’s and Registered Nurses develop their skills and abilities to supervise and plan evidence based interventional care for patients, moving from close supervision to proximal supervision.

- Nursing Degree/Diploma or ODP qualification
Knowledge

Experience
