The portering department at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for a customer focussed, friendly and enthusiastic individual, with supervisory experience to join our team of over 100 staff.

You will be central in supporting the wider team as a supervisor. You will be at the forefront of shaping our future services, playing an important part within the portering team, providing quality supervision and project support. The portering team cover 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the role involves working to cover these hours, so shift work is required including nights (22:00 - 6:00) and weekend working.

Responsibilities

To be responsible for the control of the Portering department in the absence and out of core hours, when the Portering Manager is not on duty.

To regularly monitor the Tele tracking Transport system and to prioritise work, to ensure correct and efficient patient flow around the Trust and of the Portering services. Where necessary to liaise with the site team.

To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the porters in their team, in line with HR policies.

What experiences kills are needed

Have previous experience as a Supervisor/Team Leader

We’re looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person with a mature, responsible and flexible outlook to join our busy team.

Have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, and be able to communicate at different levels.

Have a proactive approach to managing a team and workloads with the flexibility and ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Have a high standard of professionalism.

Have a good standard of IT skill, particularly with Microsoft Office.
