We’re looking for a Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 6) to join our Bedded Rehabilitation Unit at Finchley Memorial Hospital – Marjory Warren Ward.

This is a rewarding role where you’ll work with patients with complex and urgent rehabilitation needs, supporting them to regain independence and achieve meaningful outcomes. Main duties of the job

In this role, you will:

• Deliver holistic occupational therapy assessments and interventions for a varied and complex caseload
• Support patients with rehabilitation goals, focusing on independence and safe discharge planning
• Use your clinical reasoning and creativity to develop personalised, evidence-based treatment plans
• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated, patient-centred care
• Provide supervision, teaching and support to junior therapists, students and support staff
• Contribute to service development, audit and quality improvement initiatives
• Promote and embed evidence-based practice within the team

Person specification

Education/Qualification

• Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
• Current HPC Registration
• Evidence of up-to-date CPD Portfolio
• Involvement in Appraisal Scheme
• Attendance at specialist short course or equivalent CPD activities within the specialist areas of Adult Rehabilitation, Older People Rehabilitation

• Post graduate degree in relevant area
• Member of HCPC

Experience

• Experience post registration as a Band 5 occupational therapist in rehab or community setting
• Experience working at a junior level in a wide range of clinical areas including general rehab, falls, elderly medicine
• Experience of working in the NHS/UK Equivalent

• Experience working as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist
• Experience of wide range of specialist services e.g., falls services, wheelchair services, learning disabilities

Skills & Knowledge

• Skills in the assessment and treatment of adults with complex musculoskeletal, and multi-pathologies
• Knowledge of role of Allied Health Professionals and interdisciplinary team working
• Ability to apply core occupational therapy skills across a range of clinical conditions within a client cantered, goal setting.
• Knowledge of outcome measures and evidence-based practice relevant to occupational therapy practice
• Knowledge of the NICE falls guidelines, and the National Service Framework for Long-term Conditions
• Ability to problem solve, prioritise and demonstrate clinical reasoning.
• Basic IT skills – Microsoft Word, Power point, Excel
• Teaching of junior staff / students, peers in in service training setting
• Knowledge and understanding of the role of Social Services and voluntary agencies

• Supervision of assistant / junior staff
• Supervision of Students
• Knowledge and experience in research and audit

• To be occupational health cleared for the role specified.

• Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)
