Legal Counsel

Role Purpose
This role will report into the Senior Legal Counsel for UK and Ireland. The ideal candidate will have strong time management/organizational skills, and a proven ability to prioritize and take ownership/accountability for their work. They should possess a growth mindset and possess a ‘hands on’ mentality, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The Legal team sits within the General Secretary team at Danone (comprising Corporate Affairs, Public Affairs, Regulatory, Sustainability, Legal & Compliance, Corporate Communications and Purpose & BCorp), and this role will involve close cross collaboration and partnership with a variety of subject matter experts in the team.The Legal & Compliance team are a human centric, impactful, supportive, fun and collaborative team and look forward to welcoming its newest member.
This Role will include the following scope- Leading negotiations and drafting a myriad of commercial contracts including service, supply, manufacturing, finance, consulting, marketing, sales, transportation and warehousing agreements.
- Partnering with internal brand teams to co-build and implement key product campaigns and initiatives across our entire portfolio of brands (i.e., Essential Dairy, Plant Based, Beverages, Specialized Nutrition).
- Managing corporate governance for Danone’s UK & Ireland entities.
- Partnering with Compliance on data protection matters including supporting with DPIAs, SARs and data protection agreements.
- Providing clear and quick guidance to multiple functions in UK and Ireland (including procurement, research and innovation, scientific affairs, finance, sustainability, public affairs, communications, facilities, sales and marketing) without undue reliance on outside counsel.
- Working with Global and Local colleagues in developing, improving and implementing corporate governance processes, contracting guidelines, processes and training for the business.
About You
Required:
- Minimum 3 PQE as a UK qualified solicitor and ideally previous in-house experience
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and have robust communication skills
- Adaptable, open to learning and have a strong growth mindset
- Proven abilities on prioritization, time management and accountability for their work
- Able to lead commercial contracts drafting/reviewing (e.g., marketing, sales, distributor, supplier, consumer, partnerships, MSAs, NDAs, data protection agreements)
Preferred:
- Strong commercial acumen and able to provide pragmatic legal advice
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change
- Autonomous whilst being able to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong knowledge in GDPR and data protection (including DPIAs, data processing agreements, SARs)
- Experience with competition law, IP, and consumer products
- Experience of liaising with external organisations and authorities (ICO, IDPC, ASA, Companies House)
Salary Bracket: Please note the salary on offer here is between £75,000 - £85,000 + bonus.
