An exciting opportunity has arisen to join UHDB out-patient Rheumatology Therapy Team. The Occupational Therapist will be based at Queen's Hospital Burton with cross-site working at our community sites (Samuel Johnson Hospital and Sir Robert Peel Hospital).

This is a full-time post working 37.5 hours weekly from Monday through to Friday.

The Occupational Therapist will carry out skilled work in respect of the assessment and treatment of patients with Rheumatological conditions which will include complex and / or chronic conditions. To provide specialist skills which enable patients to explore, achieve and maximise their independence and maintain quality of life in the activities of daily living – areas of personal care, domestic, leisure and productive activities.

Work independently and be responsible for own individual caseload. You will also be part of a multidisciplinary team.

The Occupational Therapist will liaise closely with the senior Occupational Therapist (and receive supervision in complex cases). The Occupational Therapist will also liaise with other professional groups within the Trust and with external agencies as necessary.

Prior experience as a senior OT is not essential if you have gained relevant skills and experience as a Band 5 and have a passion for the area of Rheumatology Medicine.

Main Duties of the job:-

Manage, plan & prioritise patient care and own caseload

Provide specialist assessment, clinical reasoning and treatment for a variety of Rheumatological conditions

Lead on patient groups for newly diagnosed patients and diagnosis specific hand groups

To be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, liaising and working with other Trust staff in the management of the patients’ care appropriate to the service area

Provide support to band 5 / students and assistants

Support training and service development
