An exciting opportunity has arisen within our team on ward 102, which specialises in emergency and general surgery.
We are a fast paced emergency surgical ward caring for patients who are admitted via the emergency portals, providing patient care across a wide variety of specialities. Including upper and lower GI, Urology, Gynaecology, Vascular and general surgery.
You will participate in innovative and evidenced based nursing practice through professional leadership supporting the clinical team with close liaison with the senior sister and senior team
We pride ourselves in developing the specialist skills required to deliver our services to achieve high quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be required to hold excellent clinical skills and expertise in the care of surgical patients.
Act as a role model in accordance with standards set by the senior sister in line with the UHNM trust values
It is essential to have a minimum 2 years acute surgical nurse experience within an acute hospital setting and to have had exposure of clinical leadership of a team, utilising clinical knowledge to promote effective team working, with patient safety as a priority
Evidence of mentorship/preceptorship or equivalent to support development of students and new staff within the team
Develop, improve and evaluate best practice working in line with the UHNM trust policies and procedures at all times
Key role to be part of a senior team who wish to instil a positive working culture where wellbeing of patients, their relatives and staff is a priority
