Background to the Post
Warwickshire College Group works in partnerships with the Prince’s Trust to deliver the Team Programme. This provision is offered at a variety of locations according to demographic need and WCG operates across Lincolnshire. In addition WCG also delivers the programme in neighbouring counties; Coventry and Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Worcestershire, Derbyshire and Birmingham.
This post will be based in Birmingham.
The programme is specifically designed to engage with 16-25 year olds who are not in education, employment or training (NEETs) and provides them with an opportunity to re-engage in learning, participate in community projects, team work and individual work placements.Participants to the programme may exhibit challenging behaviours and the post holder will be expected to work
effectively with this group. The programme gives young people a unique opportunity to work as a team in undertaking worthwhile and challenging activities.
To ensure that all our students reach their potential and are not discriminated against we wish to appoint an assistant Team Leader to provide support to the three Team Leaders on their programmes and cover the delivery of the programme in the Team Leader’s absence.
The purpose of this post is to assist the team leader and provide support to the students on the team programme. Time will be spent with students in the classroom who need extra help to keep them focussed, on task and up to date. The Programme will require the post holder to accompany the students on the residential between 3 to 9 times per year and off-site or to other College centres to undertake projects, enterprises or other activities associated with the course programme.There will be a requirement to undertake administrative tasks relating to student retention and achievement.
The person appointed will report to the Prince’s Trust Co-ordinator and work alongside the Prince’s Trust team leaders as directed by the Co-ordinator.
Duties & Responsibilities- To provide support in class, or support outside the classroom as directed by the
- To assist the Prince’s Trust team leaders with the preparation of materials or
- To work closely with the team to ensure that individual student targets are being
- In conjunction with the team, maintain a system to record named student
- With knowledge/permission of the Prince’s Trust team leader, make contact with
or in writing.
- To act as a trouble-shooter and work with the students to ensure they meet
- To attend team meetings.
- To undertake training and development as appropriate.
- To accompany and support students during work experience placements, and/or
- To undertake administrative duties which will include keeping own record book,
team with student progress report.
- Work collaboratively with the team to produce Individual Risk Assessment,
- Contribute to student reports if required.
- Contribute to additional learning support reporting, as required.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults for whom
you are responsible and whom you come into contact with.

Essential Attainments- Educated to Level 2 (e.g. GCSEs Grades A-C, Level 2 NVQ, Level 2 Diploma or
- GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent (e.g.
- Excellent IT skills including with experience with the following programmes: Email,
- A First Aid qualification or willingness to gain this.
- Previous experience of student support / working with students.
- Previous experience of working with students with challenging behaviours,
students with special educational needs.
Desirable Attainments- Previous experience of working in Further Education.
- Relevant Vocational background – Sport, Basic Skills, IT, Public Services or Art.
