Consultant Interventional Radiologist

Applications are invited for a substantive full-time (1.0 WTE) interventional radiology (IR) Consultant to replace dropped sessions and one of the existing consultants moving into overseas job.
The appointment offers an opportunity to strengthen an established team, which will consist of fourteen interventional radiologists.
The post- holder will be working cross-site.
Main duties of the job
The candidate will join a team of 14 Interventional Radiology Consultants to offer both in- and out-hour IR service across St Mary’s, Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals.
The successful candidate will have completed formal training in diagnostic and interventional radiology (IR), and will have experience in Vascular; endovascular aortic peripheral, renovascular interventions including dialysis access; Gastro-intestinal and /or urological interventions.
Ideally the candidate will be able to perform aortic and peripheral arterial and venous interventions including EVAR’s, TEVAR’s and complex aortic workload to support the current demand at St Mary’s Hospital as well as non-vascular work including urological and HPB interventions.
Their Job plan will consist of a combination of IR and diagnostic radiology sessions including contributing to inpatient and outpatient reporting as well as joining the on-call rota.
The appointee is also expected to support and participate in general departmental objectives which will involve a contribution to the general reporting activity of the department (cross-sectional imaging, ultrasound and plain films).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The applicant will have experience in some or all of the following techniques:
Vascular; endovascular aortic peripheral, renovascular interventions including dialysis access; Gastro-intestinal and /or urological interventions.
Ideally, the candidate will be able to perform complex aortic and peripheral arterial and venous interventions including fenestration/branch EVAR and complex TEVARs to support the current demand at St Mary’s Hospital, although this is not an essential prerequisite.
The candidate will require experience in embolization to support the on-call service (eg .uterine artery embolization for post-partum haemorrhage, GI bleeding, trauma embolizations etc.)
An interest in training and research is strongly encouraged in accordance with the strategic aims of the Academic Health Sciences Centre.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- On GMC’s register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration and a Licence to Practice
- On GMC’s Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the register by the date of the interviews or eligible for specialist registration
- Appropriate Royal College Membership
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Formal subspecialty training in interventional radiology
- Ability to perform wide range of interventional procedures
- Experience in Endovascular aortic and peripheral arterial & Venous interventions
- IT Skills and computer literacy
Leadership/ Management skills
Essential criteria- Able to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authority
