The Team Leader is accountable for overseeing a team of Production Operators to ensure that production plans are executed safely and efficiently. The role involves maintaining high standards of quality, adhering to budgetary constraints, and meeting performance targets.A significant aspect of this position requires being a visible presence on the shop floor to monitor compliance, provide guidance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement through collaboration with other leaders and teams across the organisation.
In addition to operational responsibilities, the Team Leader will focus on people management and leadership, acting as a mentor and role model for their team. They will be expected to inspire, develop, and support team members, ensuring their growth aligns with organisational goals while fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment that enables everyone to perform at their best.
What you can expect:
The Team Leader will oversee production operations, ensuring that daily and weekly performance targets are met. This includes managing workflows, monitoring real-time progress, and taking corrective actions to address issues or inefficiencies.They will ensure that standardised processes, such as hygiene, health & safety and operator asset care, are consistently executed to a high standard, contributing to the overall productivity and quality of the operation.
A critical aspect of the role is to uphold health and safety standards, ensuring that risks are proactively managed and incidents are thoroughly investigated and reported. By fostering a safety-first culture, the Team Leader will ensure that all team members prioritise their well-being and the well-being of others.
As a leader, the Team Leader will actively manage the performance and development of their team. This includes conducting regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and personal development plans to set clear objectives and provide constructive feedback.They will act as a coach and mentor, empowering team members to build their skills, progress in their roles, and contribute meaningfully to the organization.
Strong communication and collaboration will be essential. The Team Leader will build positive relationships across teams and functions, ensuring that updates, goals, and strategies are effectively cascaded to the team. They will also provide a platform for team members to voice their ideas and concerns, creating an environment where everyone feels valued and heard.
The role also involves driving continuous improvement by identifying and implementing initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and overall performance. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to address downtime or bottlenecks and contributing to operational excellence projects.
The Team Leader will manage all aspects of employee relations, including monitoring attendance, conducting return-to-work meetings, and managing disciplinary issues. Their focus will be on fostering a motivated, engaged, and high-performing team.
What we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Team Leader or Supervisor in a high-volume FMCG environment. They should have a strong foundation in health, safety, and quality systems and a solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
They should demonstrate exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate teams. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for building relationships, providing feedback, and driving collaboration across the organization.
The candidate must also be self-motivated, adaptable, and able to make sound decisions under pressure. A commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and empowering team members to achieve their potential will be key to succeeding in this role.
