Learning Mentor & Cover Supervisor

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Pastoral team at Silverstone UTC, a purpose-built centre of excellence for young people wanting to break into the specialist fields of High-Performance Engineering and Business with Events Management.

• To oversee the academic and pastoral care of Year 10 or 11 students, provide targeted mentoring support, and cover lessons for 50% of the time. The role requires upholding the school's values and applying them in all aspects of the job.
• To lead on ensuring there is a holistic approach to supporting students, addressing their academic, personal, and behavioural development needs while fostering a positive,

• The role requires upholding of The Silverstone Way and applying the values of kindness, integrity, determination and pride in all aspects of the job.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and support the academic performance, behaviour, and well-being of Year 10 or 11 students.
• Provide one-on-one and group mentoring sessions to address social, emotional and behavioural issues.
• Develop and implement action plans for students needing additional support.
• Coordinate with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to address any issues affecting students' learning.
• Implement strategies to improve attendance, punctuality, and behaviour.
• Provide guidance and support to students in preparation for their GCSEs.
• Maintain regular contact with families to encourage positive involvement in the child's education.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of students.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about students' progress and any concerns.

Lesson Cover:

• Cover lessons for absent teachers, ensuring continuity of learning.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and manage classroom behaviour.
• Support students in their learning during covered lessons.
• Ensure a positive and productive classroom environment.
• Liaise with subject teachers to understand lesson plans and objectives.
• Provide feedback to teachers on student progress and any issues encountered during lesson cover.
