Phlebotomist Duties Work as a member of the wider multi-disciplinary team. Undertake a range of patient interventions within the scope of NVQ level 2 skills and competencies for patients as delegated. Undertake phlebotomy duties for paediatrics.
Adult phlebotomy desirable. Undertake home visits for phlebotomy services where appropriate. Work within existing clinical guidelines, policies and infection control procedures. Offer advice and support to patients and families in a wide range of situations.
Develop communication skills to enable the delivery of factual and sensitive information within confidentiality guidelines to patients, ensuring all information is appropriately documented and reported any areas of concern to the clinical team.
Demonstrate own role to new starters and students. Ensure safe moving and handling techniques in the delivery of patient care, this can include the safe use of equipment. Develop communication skills to enable the reporting of information to the multi- disciplinary team and other agencies as appropriate.
Undertake ordering and receipt of supplies as required. Deliver patient care within essence of care standards and gtd guidelines and policies. Document care delivered within the electronic patient records. The post holder shall, as necessary, provide cover for and undertake duties of absent colleagues.
The post holder shall follow all the policies and procedures of the organisation. Ability to undertake INR clinics using INR Star system or willing to undertake training to be competent in INR clinics. Administrative Duties To have a thorough knowledge of service procedures and protocols and know where to access them for reference adhering to them at all times.
To support patient referrals ensuring robust follow up and adherence to practice protocols at all times. Support the service to undertake administrative tasks as within field of competence or following appropriate training. To attend meetings as required and support.
Ensure adherence at all times to the requirements of the Data Protection Act To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required. Other duties: Any other duties, as agreed with the line manager to meet the needs of the organisation.
