This opening assignment is for 1 month

City: BRENTWOOD

Hybrid working - 2-3 days in the office

Coordinate and lead on the Councils strategic approach and operational development in response to all issues of anti-social behaviour and community safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with and support the General Manager Corporate Enforcement.

Lead on the preparation, delivery and management of the Community Safety Partnership including designing and commissioning appropriate projects to meet local needs such as seeking referrals, liaising with key partners, marketing, communication and facilitating delivery.

Provide clear and effective leadership and collaborative management for the community safety agenda across the Council, working closely with the Council’s Elected Members and senior officers across all service areas to ensure the fulfilment of the Authority’s statutory obligations under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014, and subsequent community safety legislation.

Provide advice and guidance about community safety policies and proposals, and to liaise with other Council departments, external agencies, and other partnerships regarding the community safety needs of the Borough.
Ensure the effective strategic and operational coordination of the Community Safety Partnership (CSP), and management of its funding and programmes of activity.

Represent the Council in key Partnerships such as the Community Safety Partnership and Essex Community Safety Network Executive, working closely with key partners in coordinating a strategic approach to all community safety issues, taking a lead role where necessary

Manage budgets for projects and partnerships as required and identify and apply for external funding in order to support initiatives that help achieve the Council’s corporate priorities, Community Safety Partnership Priorities and Police Fire Crime Commissioner Priorities.

Lead strategic problem-solving within the CSP, developing and implementing relevant protocols, policies and practices to enable and enhance intelligence-led multi-agency problem-solving activity.
Add value to the Council’s work programme by increasing value for money through working in partnership, and innovative ways of working.

Work with internal and external partners to develop an early intervention framework that improves opportunities and outcomes for young people at risk of offending including early intervention initiatives and activities which meet the Council’s corporate objectives in relation to community safety and cohesion.

Qualifications:

Relevant qualificationns

Knowledge:

Knowledge and understanding of Community Safety, Housing & Anti-Social Behaviour.

Experience:

Experience in ASB is essential.
Experience of delivering community projects and events.
Experience of working with community groups and organisations.

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.

Skills & Abilities:

Effective people management skills for staff, contractors, volunteers and work placements when required

Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite, Mosaic).
