We are looking to expand our team of Bridge Supervisors responsible for the day-to-day operational running of the Dunham Bridge, its toll plaza, office and the staff, serving thousands of motorists using the A57 Dunham Bridge crossing of the River Trent.

Bridge Supervisors ensure the safe, and efficient operation of the Toll Bridge business, including full management of the team of Booth Operators, the operating equipment, financial administration, reconciliation and banking, health and safety, general administration, and customer relations.

We are looking for motivated and self-confident people who are organised, dependable, accurate, reliable, and flexible.
Supervisors need to have experience of cash handling and banking and be comfortable with IT systems especially Excel , Word, and E-mail.
A knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, basic First Aid, Fire Safety and Temporary Traffic Management would be highly advantageous; as would some previous electrical and or engineering experience.
With an approachable and friendly manner Bridge Supervisors need to have staff management experience, familiarity with completing/covering rota systems and conflict management skills.
The Bridge operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year except for Christmas and Boxing Days. Supervisors also cover for staff in the booths as/when required to ensure continuity.

The role of Supervisor is offered on a zero hour contract, either on a predictable 3 days on, 5 days off (07.00hrs to 22.00hrs (15)) or a predictable 4 days on four days off (06.30-13.30 (7), 14.00 to 22.00 (8)). Job share applications are welcome).

We operate a two stage recruitment process. Long listed applicants are required to attend the Bridge for up to a couple of hours to work with a Booth Operator and a Supervisor. This is to familiarise yourself with the Booth Operator’s tasks and duties and the Office working environment.

This would be in your own time and arranged directly with the Supervisor. After your visit the Supervisor may or may not recommend you for final interview or you may decide that the job is not for you and withdraw your application.
