Clinical Research Fellow | The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust
The successful candidate will be expected to develop strong links with the neuroradiologists and radiosurgery physicists at RMH and with The Computational Imaging Team in the Division of Radiotherapy and Imaging of the ICR working in collaboration with the Neuro-oncology unit on SAFER.
The post holder will be based in the Royal Marsden Neuro-Oncology unit working predominantly at the Chelsea hospital site. As part of the clinical research team, the post holder will have considerable support from the existing Neuro-oncology Unit research infrastructure.Such support includes a trial coordinator and research data manager. The consultants are experienced principal investigators and supervisors. The ICR provides an excellent program of research skills training and support, career development support/advice and clinical research mentorship.
The clinical fellow will have access to an excellent program of lectures and training courses through the ICR.
The post holder is expected to have a minimum of one year’s experience in oncology. The post would suit a trainee in clinical oncology, who envisages a future career as a clinical researcher involved in academic clinical trial development and clinical/ radiobiology research, and who wishes to build her or his knowledge and skills to support this career path.
There are a number of ongoing clinical research projects across adult and paediatric neuro-oncology and the Neuro-oncology unit has a track record of research fellows successfully completing their projects, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting their work and national and international meetings.
The Royal Marsden Hospital has an international reputation for high quality patient care, education and research. Its partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research has created the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe.
The Royal Marsden NHS Trust is based on two sites (117 inpatient beds at Fulham Road, Chelsea and 89 inpatient beds at Downs Road, Sutton, Surrey), both devoted exclusively to the diagnosis, treatment and study of all forms of cancer and related disorders.The Royal Marsden NHS Trust’s work is closely allied with that of the Institute of Cancer Research.
