Provide excellent customer services to our patients, colleagues andmembers of the public at all times Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with a range of hospitalstaff, the public, patients and colleagues across our Trust Communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organisation and withpatients and external suppliers Participate in meetings as required e.g. staff team meetings, cleaningstandards, matrons meetings and operational management team briefingsas required Assist our Facilities Operations team by providing an effective cascade ofinformation to all Facilities Operations staff Maintain good handover processes to supervisor colleagues as part of theworking rota Respond positively to external inspections, such as unannounced CQC orEnvironmental Health attendance, PLACE, recognising when to escalateissues to line managers Maintain good working relationships with colleagues Work in conjunction with clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure appropriateaccess is gained in order to clean and operate within specific areas Liaise with and supervise Workplace contractors attending to performspecific tasks, such as pest control and window cleaningAnalytical and judgement Meet at least on a monthly basis (or more regularly if required) with the Matron or Senior Nurse in charge to undertake an inspection of all facilitiesstandards and discuss relevant issues Participate in quarterly managerial audits of the facilities services Support the Facilities Operations Leadership team to ensure all Trust andWorkforce Division targets are met for mandatory/essential training andperformance and achievement reviews Assist with promoting incident reporting within facilities operations services and ensure incidents are managed and reported appropriately and that lessons learned are put into effect.

Promote infection control awareness and support monitoring and infectionreduction measures Ensure that all waste is correctly sorted into the appropriate waste streams,label and dispose of all waste streams from the ward/department, observingall relevant recycling policies and procedures and take to recogniseddesignated points Investigate and respond to customer, service user and employeecomplaints/feedback thoroughly and professionally, ensuring a robust planis in place to meet Service level agreements and patient needs whereappropriate, or escalate to the Community Facilities Manager Support the Community Facilities Manager to effectively prioritise the daily service and staffing allocation against agreed rotas, resolving any staffing issues on a daily basis Prioritise and plan own workload, meeting the demands of all staff for which the post provides support Assist Facilities managers to update local work schedules and deploy and develop staff to maintain the service laid down in the national cleaning standard specifications Co-ordinate the hospitals deep cleaning and periodic cleaning programmes Maintain sufficient supplies of clean linen within set stock levels and to ensure dirty linen is handled in accordance with Trust policy Respond to ad hoc tasks as appropriate Supervision of all Facilities services provided on site Cleaning to the National Cleanliness Standards in the NHS Assist the Facilities Assistants with the compilation, distribution and collation of menus to meet the nutritional needs and departmentalconstraints Liaise with Dieticians and other relevant parties as necessary Allocate Facilities staff to rotas (which are set by the Facilities Management Team who have predetermined the rotas, staffing and required resource), including authorising annual leave against agreed thresholds, ensuring allareas of responsibility are effectively covered and making occasionaladjustments Assisting the Facilities Operations management team to plan, deliver andreview yearly/regular mandatory, essential and post specific training for Facilities Operations staff including supporting staff with Trust training systems and booking bespoke face to face training sessions with our TrustsEducation and Development department when required Delegate tasks daily to Facilities Operations staff Undertake audits, reviews and surveys aimed at improving facilitiesservices Support the Community Facilities Manager to monitor health and safetyactivity and investigate incidents for Facilities services Responsible for assessing the risk to the health and safety of themselves, staff, patients and visitors, they must ensure that identified risks are reported so that significant clinical and non-clinical risks are included in the hospitals and departmental risk register Keyboard skills i.e. spreadsheets, word documents, PowerPoint Ability to demonstrate practical tasks/skills when training staff i.e. patient movement tasks, deep cleaning tasks Indirect contact with patients/clients via Trust services such as PALS or clinical management Direct contact with patients regarding complaints, positive feedback orimprovement suggestions to the service/experience Liaise with nursing and clinical teams regarding patients diet requirements Ensure facilities duties for wards and departments are undertaken atfrequencies and standards defined in Trust Policies.

Work in conjunction with clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure appropriate access is gained in order to carry out tasks Ensure compliance with food safety legislation including completion of HACCP documentation, food handling and labelling, food storage and temperatures and meeting with the EHO during spot visits Minimise the build-up of waste, ensuring its daily removal and placing refuse for disposal using the correct colour coded bags as defined in the Waste Management policy Identify potential areas where cost savings and improvements to standards can be achieved and make recommendations Be aware of how to prevent cross-infection as advised by the Infection Prevention and Control Team and ensure facilities staff comply with guidelines on cleaning, PPE, safe handling of contaminated articles and hand washing proceduresFinance, equipment and other resources Be aware of our Trust environment, reporting any defects, faults ordefective equipment to the appropriate Helpdesk Ensure the supply of clean linen and removal of dirty linen to wards and departments against agreed top-up levels and timings, liaise with nominated supplier(s), as necessary when issues arise and work across wards/departments to minimise the impact on any one area Ensure all waste and linen cupboards are kept sufficiently stocked and tidy Assist with researching new equipment, take part in equipment/product trials and make recommendations Order, receive and distribute goods/products throughout the site allowing for pre-determined stock levels to be sufficient for on-site requirement e.g. food and cleaning materials Operate and use specialist cleaning equipment and various cleaningchemicals including Hydrogen Peroxide Vapour equipment, scrubber driers and floor maintenance machines to conduct deep cleans in order to achieve and maintain cleaning and infection control standards, having received full training to Trust/National Standards Adhere to all relevant COSHH assessments and safety data sheets when preparing, using and disposing of chemicals Ensure the ordering of food, provisions and cleaning consumables isundertaken on a regular basis, monitor stock levels and make suggestions as appropriate Ensure that all equipment used by Facilities Operations staff is used/operated in a safe manner in accordance with methods of work and when not in use it is stored in a clean / safe manner and that cleaning stores are maintained in a clean, tidy, well organised and safe manner Book and complete staff shifts, and make any daily amendments tochanged shifts Responsible for the collection of monies from cash registers, vending machines, or other sources, and cleaning, replenishing and upkeep of vending machines / units People management and training Inspires and motivates others by adopting a leadership style which is underpinned by our Trust Values around equality, diversity and openness; effectively build and maintain relationships with team members Ensures that individual objectives are clearly defined in line with Trusts objectives, using the appraisal process to support facilities operations staff Supervise Community Facilities Assistants including undertaking duties has required at times of operation pressure Undertake human resources functions, including participation in recruitment and induction, competency checking, appraisal, attendance management and first-stage disciplinary action, as may be required Be responsible for inducting staff in their responsibilities, on thearrangements and layout of new work areas Ensure all Facilities staff are suitably trained and are competent in the tasks required to successfully undertake their duties Identify own training needs in line with our Trusts corporate objectives through the Personal Development Review process and be willing to undertake further training in support of this role Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance including laundering own uniform according to Trust policy To adhere to our Trusts Colour Coding for cleaning materials andequipment The correct use of PPE appropriate to the area and task undertaken in line with Trust policies Prioritise and plan own workload, meeting the demands of all staff for which the post provides support
