Job Description
Baxterstorey is seeking an experienced and visionary Head Chef to lead our culinary operations in Newport, United Kingdom. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our kitchen, from menu creation to team management, ensuring the highest standards of culinary excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and implement innovative menus that reflect current food trends and cater to our diverse clientele
- Lead and inspire a team of culinary professionals, fostering a positive and productive kitchen environment
- Manage food costs, inventory, and budgets to maintain profitability whilst ensuring quality
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene
- Collaborate with the management team to drive business growth and enhance the overall dining experience
- Source and maintain relationships with local suppliers to ensure the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients
- Oversee the maintenance and proper use of kitchen equipment
- Participate in client meetings and events to represent the culinary team and gather feedback
- Stay abreast of culinary trends and continuously improve menu offerings and kitchen processes
- Culinary degree or diploma from a recognised institution
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a professional kitchen, including previous roles as Head Chef or Sous Chef in a high-volume establishment
- Proven track record of menu planning, food cost management, and budget control
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a kitchen team
- Excellent knowledge of British and international cuisines
- Proficiency in advanced culinary techniques and kitchen equipment operation
- Up-to-date Food Safety and Hygiene certification
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations in the food service industry
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with local suppliers and produce in Newport and surrounding areas
- Passion for food and commitment to culinary excellence
