Job Description:

IPS is hiring! We are looking for a talented Process Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our industry leading Process Mechanical Engineering team to be either based out of our EMEA headquarters, located in Birmingham UK.

The Lead Mechanical Engineer focuses on Process Equipment Engineering design, assists with specialized designs, and works on several concurrent projects within the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Life Sciences, or Laboratory industries.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supports development of Grade I & II Engineers in the team
  • Prepares and delivers technical courses within the IPS University across EMEA
  • Coaches and develops colleagues on technical topics
  • Subject Matter Expert for mechanical engineering. Single point of contact to answer difficult technical questions and solutions within mechanical engineering across many projects
  • Prepares, trains and develops SOPs, WIs and technical forms.
  • Prepares engineering studies and schematic design for new equipment, utilities and process pipework systems and analyses the operation of existing systems with view to tie-ing in.
  • Supports EHS reviews, Designer risk assessments and Constructability reviews.
  • Member of feasibility and concept teams in projects, as agreed and assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of proven mechanical design experience in Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Life Sciences, or Laboratory industries.
  • Successful work package engineer or project consultant on at least 5 large or complex systems / vendor packages.
  • Successful discipline lead in at least 2 medium size and medium complexity projects (£40-70million).
  • Bachelors of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • A chartered Engineer or internationally recognised equivalent.
  • Preferred to have experience in CQV, maintenance, operation and construction.
