Base: Wayside House Coventry. However as part of your role you will be required to travel throughout Coventry and Warwickshire. This role also incorporates remote and agile working.

We “The Childrens Intensive Support Team” are seeking a committed and passionate Principal Clinical Psychologist looking for an opportunity to make a difference in improving outcomes for our young people. In addition to providinga high quality, specialist applied psychology service thepost holder will join the Children’s IST Leadership Team and be responsible, in conjunction with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist,for the supervision and governance of the team.

In addition, to support psychological practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.

We are a rapidly evolving service and as such there will considerable opportunities to utilise research, audit and service development skills across the service. The ability to respond quickly and confidently within crisis situations is an essential part of this role.

The teams work systemically to understand and support the significant impact and challenges experienced by our service users. To do this, we work with the network around the person (e.g., Social Care, Education) and work closely with commissioners.

As a Clinical Psychologist you will have experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working as you will need to attend regular MDT’s, CETR’s and EMDT’s.

The successful applicant will be required to provide input to the service in the form of specialist assessments and psychological interventions, team formulation, consultation, training, service evaluation and supervision of other qualified staff.

Your role will entail working directly with the service users and their families or carers and, as such, experience of working with young people who are autistic or have a learning disability and have mental health needs is essential.

The people referred to our service have highly complex needs, e.g., enduring behaviour which challenges, self-injurious, aggressive, or violent behaviour, or other risky presentationswhich could lead to harm to themselves or others. Understanding these needs, risks, and behaviours within the context of our service user’s lived experiences and autism and/or learning disability is the foundation of our work and we use Team Formulations andstrengths and challenges approach to be neuroaffirmativeto help us to do this.

You will have a key role in these processes, along with specialist assessments, interventions, and evaluations, which will involve working to understand relationships within families. Experience of the clinical application and evaluation of similar approaches would be advantageous.

Other responsibilities include providing consultation within the MDT and externally, joint working with other agencies, participation and involvement in service development, research and business meetings and providing supervision (where appropriate) to other psychology staff or team members providing psychologically informed interventions.

The role is that of a community based practitioner and applicants will be required to travel across the Trust, so car owner/driver or suitable alternative transport arrangements will be essential to enable you to undertake the job. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS Check.
