Main duties of the job

About us

Ward 4 is an 20 bedded inpatient unit providing orthopaedic large joint services to adult patients. As a specialist Foundation Trust, we are in an enviable position to focus our attention on high quality care and innovation. Ward 4 is often at the forefront of these innovations and as Staff Nurse you will be involved in delivering pioneering and life-changing care.
We also provide a Bone Infection Unit (BIU) service and provide nursing care for patients being treated under this service. As a nursing team, we have made vast improvements to develop our nursing processes to ensure that we provide the best in nursing care to our patients.

We pride ourselves in ensuring that we consistently challenge ourselves to provide the best care to our patients to ensure they can recover from their operation and return home with an improved quality of life.

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse with current NMC registration
  • Diploma/Degree level Adult nursing qualification
  • Recent clinical experience with in a healthcare setting
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Acute Medical & Elective or Emergency Surgical Experience
  • Experience in Orthopeadic Surgery

skills and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of time management
  • Evidence of ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of basic I.T. skills
  • Have or willing to undertake core skills relevant to area of work e.g. ECG, Cannulation, Venepuncture, Urethral Catheterisation male and females, IV therapy.
  • Ability to use own initiative and make sound clinical judgements.
  • Clinical competence

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and listening.
  • Self-motivated to develop personal learning and skills.
