LAS ST3+ in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Job overview
The appointee will form an integral part of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology clinical Rota through the provision of medical cover on the Obstetrics and Gynaecology wards. In addition, the successful applicant will be involved with the admission and assessment of both Obstetrics and Gynaecology emergencies, as well as assisting at Caesarean sections.He/she will be expected to undertake regular ward rounds and seek senior advice when deemed appropriate. He/she will be expected to contribute to the regular
teaching programmes timetabled for postgraduates as well as the undergraduates. There will be a requirement to support the 1:8 on-call Rota and cooperate with all levels of management namely at CBUand senior management level.
Main duties of the job- Attendance at handover and ward rounds.
- Assisting at Caesarean sections.
- Following triage of emergency Obstetric patients, review of these patients and discussion with senior colleagues.
- Assessment and discharge of postnatal patients e.g., post-caesarean section, VTE assessments.
- General prescribing of current medication and discharge medication of patients.
- Review of emergency gynaecology admissions and discussion with senior colleagues
- Participation in on-call rota on a 1:8 basis, including nights and weekends
