We have an excellent opportunity for an inspirational and creative teacher to join Ashford School’s highly successful Photography and Art departments.
The Art and Photography departments are part of the Faculty of Arts. As a well-qualified Teacher of Photography, you will be expected to contribute to the teaching and development of the subject at A Level, as well as assist in co-curricular opportunities such as encouraging pupils to take part in competitions and assisting with annual exhibitions at the School.The Photography department teaches the AQA syllabus and the successful candidate will be skilled in the use of digital media such as Adobe Photoshop, Bridge and Premier Pro.
The Art department is passionate about establishing a high standard of creative work through many artistic disciplines. Students are encouraged to explore multi-faceted practices encompassing drawing, painting, graphics, printmaking, 3D and textiles.
Whilst it is not possible to educate every student so that they become an ‘artist’, the department believes it is vitally important for all pupils to develop a visual appreciation and awareness of the environment around them.
Photography and Art Teachers at Ashford enjoy a welcoming, comfortable and well-resourced environment in five studios. You should be familiar with computer technology as a tool for learning, teaching and administration, and be prepared to develop your skills further.All teaching rooms are equipped with permanent internet access and display screens. All students in KS3 and KS4 have access to a Microsoft laptop in their lessons with which to access a variety of learning platforms.
In addition, the successful candidate should be capable of guiding students of all abilities and those whose first language is not English. Personal engagement is essential, and responding to the needs of the individual is at the heart of the faculty’s ethos.
An assistant tutor responsibility is included in this role.
