Band 4 Neuro-Oncology Cancer Support Worker

Permanent full time position (37.5 hours)

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 4 Support Worker to join the Neuro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist and the wider team to help coordinate care, education and support for brain and spinal tumour patients living with cancer.

Main duties of the job

Applicants will be expected to contribute to delivery of a quality service to patients and their carers with support of the Clinical Nurse Specialist and multidisciplinary team. The post holder will need to have excellent communications skills and have a passion for providing excellent care and support to brain tumour patients.

Experience within oncology or the care setting is preferable.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English Language and Mathematics(Grades A-C) or equivalent
  • NVQ4 or NVQ3 plus additional training to diploma level equivalent, or equivalent through short courses
  • Evidence of continued role development Coaching or teaching qualification

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Relevant health or social care experience at A&C Band 3 or equivalent
  • Experience of multi-professional working
  • Experience in the use of data management
  • Evidence of good communications skills
  • Understanding of person-centred care
