What you'll do:
Provide efficient financial analysis to the Finance Director of Corporate Functions. Provide comprehensive, commercially focused, high quality financial support through collaborating with the Global IT leadership team and key partners and collaboratively working with shared services within the Finance and HR.
Work closely with the Corporate Functions Finance Team to develop and deliver annual and medium term strategic plans for that are in line with the overall Group strategy and direction.
Ensure that operating expenses and capex are coordinated with the wider Group, taking advantage of alignment opportunities and working seamlessly and constructively with the rest of the Group.
Collaborate with business leaders to offer financial and commercial assistance for all significant opex and capex issues, and contribute to investment cases for consideration.
The day-to-day:
- Business Partnering - Act as finance business partner to the Global IT business, providing financial support and commercial advice.
o Ensure that partners and senior management are provided with timely, impactful analysis to aid decision making.
o Provide value adding financial insight and support by building effective working relationships at all levels.
o Collaborate with Cost Centre Managers and VPs to efficiently and optimally lead cost control.
o Work with Procurement to identify efficiencies, reporting on costs to ensure forecasts are up to date and balanced.- Reporting and Forecasting - Production of both the monthly reporting pack for the IT Leadership team and the Quarterly Business Area Reviews (BARs)
o Provide financial and operational results to Global IT Leadership and Exec teams on an accurate and timely basis together with action orientated business focused commentary.
o Review the monthly variance analysis reports to ensure that results are materially accurate. Work with Finance Operations to resolve any issues.
o Support the FD to ensure that Global IT has in place an up-to-date, high-quality full year forecast that reflects all relevant material issues, opportunities and business plans.
o Prepare the road map by which the required full year results will be delivered and which is owned by the management team.- Budgeting and Long-Range Business Planning - Lead the planning Process for Global IT ensuring that a high quality Op Plan and Strategic Plan includes all risks, opportunities and business plans.
- Integration - Support finance integration activities between legacy Inmarsat and legacy Viasat. Be catalytic in improving financial processes across the combined organisation.
- Business performance management - Play a proactive and action orientated role by supporting the FD to efficiently deliver the best medium term financial and operational results possible.
- Interface to Group Finance - Working with Group finance, ensure that the Group accounting, transaction processing and project management capabilities for the needs of Corporate Functions.
What you'll need:
- Graduate with professional accounting qualification or equivalent.
- Progressive experience in finance, insight and influence and business partnering within quality companies.
- Superior analytical skills coupled with good strategic business understanding leading to key business insight.
- Ability to draw high quality analysis out of the results that drive decisions.
- Strong communication skills, confident and comfortable at engaging collaboratively. Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- A commercially astute individual, the candidate must be technically strong, and influential and confident to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
