Staff Nurse
Job overview
We are currently recruiting band 5 Staff Nurses within the Hospital Divisions, Acute female ward Topaz. Topaz Ward is a 17 bedded acute ward which cares for females who are in crisis and require extra support within inpatient services.
We are looking for a motivated, eager to learn, caring and compassionate nurse who will be able bring ideas and adapt to changes and improvements easily. The role will entail staff being able to have daily 1:1 discussion with patients, run groups, be pro active at the management of violence and aggression and be able to act as the Nurse in Charge and to role model good practice to junior staff and students.
Main duties of the job
Core to the Registered Nurse role is:
- The establishment of therapeutic relationships with service users and carers as core to the role and our interventions
- Assessment, formulation, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care that is based on therapeutic engagement, coproduction, best practice
- An ongoing commitment to responsive, safe and high standard of nursing care.
- Effective partnership working with services users, carers, the multidisciplinary team and a range of external agencies
- A commitment to continuous professional development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate client care that is based on best practice and delivers high standard of nursing care. To co-ordinate the individual’s assessment and subsequent care plan as agreed with the multi-disciplinary team. To effectively communicate with clients, family and colleagues.

Education
Essential criteria- Registered Mental Health Nurse
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the personal and clinical needs of individual service users, their relatives and carers.
- Ability to negotiate and influence.
- Ability to effectively run the ward as and when necessary
Experience
Essential criteria- Experience of working within a mental health setting (as a student for newly qualified staff)
- Identify, initiate and manage effective practice in a patient centred way
- Working knowledge of MHA 1983.
- Knowledge of implementing clinical Policies and Procedures.
- Willing to carry out PMVA
