Assistant Manager, Client Accounting & Reporting

The Assistant Manager will support the Senior Director and Manager in delivering financial accounting and reporting services across a portfolio of joint ventures and external clients. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, compliance with audit and tax requirements, and supporting treasury and transactional activity.

The role is based in our Edinburgh city centre office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Monthly and Quarterly Reporting
  • Prepare and deliver timely monthly and quarterly financial reporting in accordance with accounting policies and internal control frameworks.
  • Produce management and consolidated accounts, cashflow reports, cost analysis, and assist with bank compliance reporting and client statements.
  • Support any other ad hoc reporting requirements.
  1. Audit and Statutory Accounts
  • Manage the external audit relationship, responding to queries and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of statutory financial accounts to meet regulatory and lender timelines.
  1. Direct and Indirect Taxation
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of UK direct and indirect tax returns.
  • Liaise with third-party providers where tax services are outsourced, ensuring compliance and quality standards are upheld.
  1. Treasury Management
  • Assist in preparing annual business plans and monthly forecasts to ensure liquidity and appropriate headroom.
  • Manage drawdowns and distributions in line with financial agreements.
  • Monitor rental income, hedging contracts, and cash waterfall processes as per facility agreements.
  • Oversee landlord expenditure and liaise with external administrators during payment processing.
  1. Acquisitions and Disposals
  • Support transactions by preparing cashflows, managing funding requirements, coordinating legal and due diligence processes.
Requirements
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Background in either practice or in-house finance; real estate experience desirable but not essential.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Experience in financial reporting, audit processes, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Understanding of UK and international financial reporting standards and real estate-related taxation.
  • Confident managing external auditors and leading an audit process.
  • Effective communicator, able to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience managing or supporting third-party relationships.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to prioritise.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills essential.
  • Commercially aware, detail-oriented, and capable of identifying and delivering process improvements.
