Junior Clinical Fellow in Chemical Pathology and Metabolic Medicine

This is a replacement post due to a vacancy created by one of the registrars taking time out of training within the Department of Clinical Biochemistry. The post holder will provide clinical support for the Clinical Biochemistry diagnostic service, and clinical activities within the department.There is no general medicine component to this post.
This is a 6-month full time locum replacement post and applicants must be registered with the GMC and have general clinical experience of at least 2 years.
The Pathology service at the Royal Free Hospital is provided by the Health Services Laboratories (HSL), a pathology partnership between two world class London hospitals and the largest independent provider of pathology services in the UK. Clinical Biochemistry laboratory services provide a clinically led comprehensive diagnostic service, with the clinical leadership being provided by 4 Medical Consultants.
We work closely with the Departments of Cardiology, Endocrinology, Hepatology and Renal Medicine. There will be opportunities to get involved in clinical audits as well as development of cross-speciality projects
Outpatient Clinics
The post-holder will provide support for the Lipid and Cardiovascular risk prevention clinics.
Clinical Biochemistry Diagnostic Service
The post holder with the existing trainees will participate in the provision of clinical support to clinical and diagnostic work within the department of Clinical Biochemistry, including point of care testing.
Clinical trials, clinical audits, quality improvement
There will be opportunities to get involved in clinical trials and audits and development of patient pathways, pathology demand management and evaluation both clinically and scientifically of new tests.
