Structural Design Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Structural Design Engineer for our client in Central London. The Structural Design Engineer will assist in delivering projects under the guidance of the Principal Engineer and Company Director. As the engineer's experience grows, the role will evolve to include responsibility for the successful completion of small to medium-sized projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

• Structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures in compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., European, British).
• Structural analysis and design of foundations and geotechnical structures.
• Experience in using engineering software such as Statica, Axis VM FEM Modelling, and Tekla Tedds for design and analysis.
• Preparation of Basis of Design, Material Specifications, Material Take-offs, Scopes of Work, Technical Reports, and coordination of interdisciplinary design and supervision.
• Preparation of design calculations, designing for wind loads, developing design sketches, and providing relevant information to designers on assigned projects.
• Collaboration with designers to prepare CAD drawings using software like Revit and AutoCAD.
• Coordination with other disciplines to meet their requirements and assisting in the preparation of structural drawings and details with the Design Team.
• Support in developing a lessons-learned database.
• Ensure a positive attitude is maintained in both design work and office interactions.

• Produce detailed design work for the Principal Engineer and Company Director.
• Take on project delivery tasks, including calculations, drawings, sketches, and reports.
• Work alongside CAD/Revit Technicians to produce project drawings.
• Lead design meetings, site meetings, and perform site inspections.
• Mentor and guide graduate/junior engineers.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues across different disciplines and with internal staff.
• Maintain client communication to ensure that project delivery aligns with client objectives and requirements.
• Ensure the technical accuracy of all work and its compliance with design codes and standards.
• Lead and deliver small to medium-sized projects within budget, in accordance with the engineer's experience level.

• Minimum MEng (Hons) degree in Structural Engineering.
• At least 3 years of broad post-qualification experience in a competitive environment.
• Focused on achieving IStructE Chartered status with 5 years of post-qualification experience.

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to liaise effectively with members of design and construction teams.
